What is a Migraine Cocktail?
Migraine cocktails are IV treatments consisting of a combination of non-narcotic medications approved by neurologists who specialize in migraine headaches. The infusion takes about an hour and patients typically have a significant decrease in their migraine symptoms by the end of the treatment. Cocktails don't work for everyone but are frequently quite helpful for migraine sufferers. They are not a cure for your condition and you may need additional treatments when you develop another headache. The frequency of treatment needed varies by patient.
What is a ketamine infusion?
Ketamine is an anesthetic drug, typically used to sedate people for surgery. The latest medical studies show that ketamine can be helpful for chronic migraines. It is believed that ketamine disrupts ingrained nerve pathways that signal your brain to produce pain. It appears that ketamine can also assist in "rewiring" your brain to replace dysfunctional pathways with healthy ones.
Ketamine does not work for everyone but has been life-changing for many. Ketamine is not a cure for migraines and additional treatments may be needed as migraines return. The frequency of treatments needed varies by patient.
Does insurance cover migraine cocktails or ketamine treatments?
Insurance coverage varies widely and at this time we do not participate with insurance. You can use your health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA) to pay for your migraine treatments. We also accept all major credit cards, PayPal, and ApplePay. We can help you submit a claim to your insurance to see if they will reimburse you part or all of your treatment cost. Payment is due at the time of service.
